A short history of Omar Khayyam’s Rubaiyat.Surely Omar Khayyam and Paramhansa Yogananda will plant seeds in our hearts that will grow, in their own best time, into beautiful plants of Self realization: for such is the power of this poetry …

In this two hour webinar we will explore some of these quatrains and allow them to connect us with our own soul nature. In 1994 Swami Kriyananda, Yogananda’s direct disciple, edited these articles and published the full commentary in a book under the title The Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam, explained by Paramhansa Yogananda, edited by Swami Kriyananda. His full rendition of the inner significance of the entire poem began to appear in succeeding issues of East –West, the spiritual magazine that he himself had started. Yogananda began to write beneath each quatrain. That edition was printed with a single stanza placed at the top of each page, leaving the remainder entirely blank. The book was gifted to Yogananda in 1933, by a student. To the sincere seeker each one of these 75 quatrains offers new insights into the mysteries of karma, life, death, meditation and divine joy. In Khayyam’s Rubaiyat Paramhansa Yogananda discovered a deeper, hitherto unknown dimension of inexhaustible spiritual inspiration.
